CVHS Dollar-A-Day Campaign
As you may be aware, Mt. Diablo Unified School District has just been hit with another $35 million in mid-year budget cuts. These cuts will begin next school year and may continue for the next three years. These cuts are now so drastic and deep that our libraries are in danger of full closure, class sizes will be up to the state maximum, textbook adoptions are being delayed and custodial services will be reduced to a bare minimum. This list is not by any means comprehensive. Many additional programs are also slated for reduction or elimination. Click here for the current District budget reduction list.
In response to budget cuts earlier this year the Clayton Valley High School Parent Faculty Club challenged each and every family at Clayton Valley High School to contribute to the Dollar-A-Day fundraising campaign. We asked every family to contribute $1 for every day that your child is in school at Clayton Valley.
To-date over 180 families have donated to this campaign, raising over $23,000 dollars. We are well on our way to achieving our goal of raising $30,000 to supplement programs at Clayton Valley High School. If you have not yet done so, please consider donating to the PFC's Dollar-A-Day fundraising.
What will a Dollar-A-Day do for Clayton Valley High School? Here are a few of the programs currently funded by the CHVS Parent Faculty Club:
- The CVHS library is currenly open after-school several days each week;
- Free after-school tutoring is offered for all CVHS students;
- Technology imporvements to the CVHS campus; and
- Campus improvements including new exterior benches for the campus.
With a little over four months left in the school year we are asking each and every family to give whatever they can to help us reach our goal of $30,000. With your help, CVHS can continue offering our students a varied and rich high school experience.
HOW TO DONATE:
ONLINE (Available after August 4th): Secure, online credit card donations can be made online through the Clayton Valley High School Web Store. CLICK HERE to go directly to the CVHS Web Store to make your Dollar-A-Day donation. (You will need your student's 7-digit ID number.)
BY MAIL: You can mail your Dollar-A-Day donation to our CVHS PFC. CLICK HERE and print our Donation Form and mail it, with a check, to CVHS PFC, P.O. Box 883, Clayton, CA 94517.
Double Your Donation! MATCHING FUNDS PROGRAMS
You may be able to double or even triple your contribution to Clayton Valley High School if you work for a company that matches employee gifts. Nearly 10,000 companies in the United States and many local companies (Chevron, PG&E and Waste Management, to name a few) offer one benefit to their employee which is seldom used. A large number of companies will match your donations to selected charitable organizations with corporate funds, simply by asking you to fill out a form. In many cases, Clayton Valley High School will qualify for these matching funds. Please see your Human Resources department to see if your company has such a matching gift program, and to determine Clayton Valley High School’s eligibility. Even companies without formal programs will often provide contributions to charitable organizations in which employees are involved.
The list below is a few of the companies that match employees’ donations to non-profit organizations. Contact your Human Resources Department to find out if they will contribute and for more information on how to sign up.
Remember, your company may match donations made to the Clayton Valley High School PFC “Dollar A Day” Program!
